Young Girl Needs a Good Home

Last week we shared the story of two siblings, Betty and Austin, looking for the Gift of Love. They have an older sister who's also looking for a forever family. Her name is Nicole. She is generally a happy girl and very active. She likes affection and being hugged. Nicole also enjoys bike riding, playing with dolls and games. "She loves to play tag. She's a very playful child. She likes to play ball, especially basketball, and she's fairly good at it," says Marilyn Scott, her Foster Mom. Reports show that Nicole came from a very dysfunctional family. Because of neglect and sexual abuse, this six year old functions at a three year old level, but she is making progress and will need to continue speech therapy. Scott explains, "Some words she can say perfectly and she can make good sentences, and sometimes you can listen to her and you can't understand exactly what she's saying." Nicole attends special education classes and enjoys school. "She's learning art, and she does very well in that. She's also learning her alphabet, as well as counting and reading," says Scott. Nicole is capable of bonding and attaching to people and needs the Gift of Love to help her grow. "She wants to be a part of a family. She wants a mom and a dad," says Scott. This young girl would do best in a two parent family that can be good role models in her life. They will need to offer her supervision and guidance, and a lot of patience. David Godwin with Child Protective Services says, "We'd like to find an energetic family where possibly she's an only child and will be able to get a lot of attention." Godwin adds, "And a family that would praise her for her accomplishments because she really likes to be praised and likes to feel special. She hasn't had a lot of that in her life." Nicole is affectionate and loving, and needs a special family to bring out her potential.
