The Illinois Supreme Court is refusing to hear a motion to declare Governor Rod Blagojevich unfit to serve. The motion was filed by the state's attorney general earlier this week.
Meanwhile, the defense attorney hired by Blagojevich wants a legislative committee to stop its impeachment inquiry. The lawyer, Ed Genson, told a committee hearing in Springfield some of its members have expressed opinions about the governor's actions.
Genson says they should be kicked off the panel. He also claimed the committee could not legally use evidence gathered during a federal investigation.
And he challenged the panel's rules and procedures. The head of the committee rejected each objection.
The governor was arrested on federal corruption charges last week, which include trying sell President-elect Barack Obama's senate seat.
