Special Olympics Softball Tournament Brings Athletes To Tyler

Some special East Texans were out Saturday, going for the gold in a softball tournament. The annual Special Olympics tournament was Saturday, featuring teams from as far away as Lufkin and Mexia.

More than 130 athletes came out to compete in several different brackets. The athletes trained for ten weeks to get ready for the event, which went on all day at Lindsey Park.

Of the four gold medals awarded in the different divisions, three were won by Tyler teams.
