MEL GIBSON'S FILM ON JESUS TO BE IN LATIN AND ARAMAIC

Actor-director Mel Gibson says the movie he plans to make about the last 12 hours of Jesus' life will be in the original languages -- Latin and Aramaic -- with no subtitles.

In an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Gibson said that will make it "more real" and he hopes "to transcend language barriers" with cinematic storytelling.

The film, entitled "Passion," will star Jim Caviezel (kuh-VEE'-zul) as Jesus. Caviezel and Gibson are both Roman Catholics. Gibson says U-S film distributors are wary of his project. In his words, "No one wants to touch something in two dead languages. They think I'm insane. Maybe I am."
