Two Men Face the Death Penalty in Cherokee County

Two men face the death penalty after allegedly robbing an East Texas convenience store and murdering one of its customers.

Monday, the state formally announced the intent to seek that penalty against 19 year old Beunka Adams and 18 year old Richard Aaron Cobb. Earlier this month, the two teens allegedly robbed the B-D-J convenience store in Rusk, and forced two employees and a customer to go with them to Alto. All three people were shot and left for dead. The two employees survived. Kenneth Vandever was pronounced dead at the scene. The two were arrested the next day in Jacksonville.

The Cherokee County district attorneys office presented the case to the Cherokee County grand jury Monday.
