Lobos In State Quarterfinals For A Second Straight Year

The Longview Lobos are midway through the post season, three wins from a state title. This weekend they battle Waco Midway in the quarterfinals.

The Lobos were on the practice field Tuesday afternoon getting ready for some hard hits this weekend.

Longview beat undefeated Dallas Carter last Saturday to advance. The Lobos are in the quarterfinals for a second straight year. The team seemed calm and focused, being this close to a trip to state.

"It feels pretty good because you know alot teams are not in the playoffs right now, their season is over with, they've probably already started the offseason so being here feels pretty good," running back Jonathon Oliver said.

"Our guys they never get too high or too low," Coach John King said, "and it's just been kind of a normal work week for us so far. That's kind of been the fortunate thing with our football team is that in the last few years they don't get too hyped up for any particular game because every game they play is really a big game."

The Lobos will play Waco Midway this Saturday night at 8 p.m. at Texas Stadium.
