Andy Dunklin sworn in as Precinct 2 constable

Smith County Justice of the Peace Judge Bill Lemmert was laid to rest Monday afternoon after passing away Friday at the age of 55 from a heart attack. He was currently serving his 5th term as JP for Precinct 2.

Monday morning, Smith County Judge Joel Baker swore in the man Lemmert would have worked with side by side. Andy Dunklin recently won the election for Precinct 2 constable. Dunklin says his precinct has suffered a great loss.

"I did know Judge Lemmert, I knew him for many years, long before he was a justice of the peace and just a good friend, and a good man...we certainly understand the challenges that face us. We've got some issues that need to be corrected and cleaned up there and we are going to work to do that," said Dunklion at the swearing-in ceremony.

Dunklin fills the position recently held by Constable Frank Creath. Creath passed away last June after battling cancer.
