A special ceremony was held Friday in Longview to remember Americans who were prisoners of war, or missing in action in foreign wars. A small group of veterans gathered at city hall to raise a flag for P.O.Ws and M.I.A.s. By city proclamation, Friday was P.O.W.-M.I.A. recognition day in memory of the thousands who still remain unaccounted for. For many, like the Gregg County vets, its a painful reminder of friends left behind on foreign battlefields. Commemorative flags were also presented by the veterans of foreign wars to the police department, the Gregg County courthouse and the public library.
