Update: Funeral service set for Justice of the Peace, Judge Bill Lemmert

Smith County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2 Judge Bill Lemmert passed away Friday night at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.  Lemmert was 55-years-old.

Lemmert has served as JP for Pct. 2 the last 16 years.  He was currently serving his 5th term.  Before that he was a deputy constable and former co-owner of the Tire Barn in Tyler.  He later became the deputy marshal for the city of Tyler.  Lemmert is a 1972 graduate of John Tyler High School and attended Tyler Junior College and Kilgore College.  He's survived by his wife Kathy, his daughter, his brothers and sisters-in-law and two grandchildren.  He lived with his wife in Flint.

Family will receive friends tonight (Sunday) at Stewart Family Funeral Home in Tyler from 6-8 p.m.  The funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home's chapel.  A private burial will follow.
