Gas leak at Delek Refinery

Streets were blocked off overnight in a neighborhood that has seen its share of emergency crews lately, as Tyler Fire Department crews were called out at around 2:00 am this morning after a burst gasoline tank filter led to a gas leak at Delek Refinery, the scene of a deadly explosion just last week.

More than 2,000 gallons of fuel spilled into a nearby roadway and creek as firefighters shut down streets in the area and covered the spill with foam. Commerce Street from McMurray to the East Loop right in front of the plant was closed for hours this morning.

Officials say the leak occured in a different part of the refinery than the expolosion that killed one worker and left five others injured.
