Van Zandt County authorities arrest four on meth charges

Monday, at around 3:30 pm, deputies from the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office along with Kaufman County Sheriff's Office and Texas Rangers went to a home in the 100 block CR 3843 in an attempt to locate Jimmy Dale Aaron, also known as Cherokee. Aaron was wanted on an outstanding warrant issued by the Texas Parole Board.

Aaron was found in a small, one room building located behind the main residence and taken into custody without incident. Three others were found in the building with him: Robert Griffin, 60, Jacqueline Smith, 38, and Coy Smith, 38. Griffin, the owner of the building, gave deputies consent to search the residence, and when they did, they found about an ounce of crystal meth. Griffin, Coy Smith and Jacqueline Smith were then arrested, and charged with the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance over 4 grams and under 200 grams.

Arraignments were held, and the bonds were set as follows:

Robert Griffin is being held on a $12,500.00 bond, Coy Smith is being held on a $12,500.00 bond, Jacqueline Smith is being held on a $12,500.00 bond, and Jimmy Dale Aaron is being held without bond.
