Rep. Gohmert introduces several new Acts to House

Take the money out of one man's hands, and put it in the hands of the American people.

That's what Congressman Louie Gohmert says he hopes his fellow Congressmen will do when they go back in session next month.

On Friday, Gohmert introduced the Reap Act and Stone Act, which would end US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson's power to spend the 700 billion dollar bailout. It would also put unused bailout money toward the infrastructure.

"We have a lot of democratic friends say, well, let's put money in infrastructure...infrastructure is an obligation of the Congress, for example the Constitution says Congress can post roads, so let's be building roads. That creates jobs, it stimulates the economy, if you do things for infrastructure," said Congressman Gohmert.

Gohmert also introduced the Consumer and Automotive Recovery Act, or CAR. He says instead of bailing out the automotive industry, Congress should provide a $1,500 hundred dollar tax credit to those with incomes less than $250,000 a year if they buy a new car manufactured in the US.

The car would have to be purchased, however, within 6 months of the bill's passage.
