Well, our country has new leadership. And according to the east Texas voting results 7 out of 10 of you disagree with the choice. So where do we go from here? I have three recommendations.
First, continue to stand up for what you believe in. If you haven't been active in the political process then now is a good time start. Call your local elected officials, especially when they demonstrate the type of leadership you like to see. Second, remember, that like or not, the new administration will be the leaders of OUR country.
They need our support, particularly as it relates to their dealings with foreign countries. And finally, remember there are self serving extremists on both sides of the aisle that will do, and say some really stupid things that will make you mad. Ignore them. Polls tell us that most of the country remains in the middle of the political spectrum.
Those screaming for attention with outrageous remarks and actions have far less control of this country than the national media might lead you to believe. The United States is facing a lot of problems both inside our border and out. Its time that we stopped casting blame and slinging insults and start working on finding common ground to make this a better country and a better east Texas.
