Third round football playoff lineups set

The third round of the Texas high school football playoffs have been set.

 

CLASS 4A

DIVISION I - Region II - Regional

      Dallas Carter (12-0) vs. Longview (10-2), 2 p.m. Saturday, Corsicana

DIVISION II - Region II - Regional

      Denison (12-0) vs. Sulphur Springs (9-3), 8 p.m. Friday, Texas Stadium

CLASS 3A

DIVISION I - State quarterfinals

      Prosper (11-1) vs. Van (11-1), 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Mesquite's Memorial Stadium

DIVISION II - Region II - Regional

      Celina (9-3) vs. Texarkana Pleasant Grove (9-2), 1 p.m. Friday, Royce City

      Kaufman (9-3) vs. New Boston (10-1), 6:30 p.m. Friday, Royce City

Region III - Regional

      Gilmer (11-1) vs. West Orange-Stark (10-0), 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Lufkin

      Carthage (10-2) vs. Rockdale (9-2), 8:00 p.m. Friday, Corsicana

CLASS 2A

DIVISION I

      Pilot Point (10-1) vs. Winnsboro (10-2), 2 p.m. Saturday, Royse City

    On a hot, humid East Texas Monday, Jake Arledge sat and visited with Angelina Baseball Coach Jeff Livin. After the morning talk the two would leave the AC cooled office and venture into the heat to look for an apartment. Five years ago, Arledge would have never thought his life would bring him to Lufkin.

    Tyler native and Chiefs newly crowned starting QB Patrick Mahomes was on a business trip in Ft Worth.  He and several other NFL players were featured at the second annual National Fantasy Football Convention, where fans had full access to the players.  East Texas Sports got some private time with Mahomes who expressed his approval of the event, and he certainly was a crowd pleaser. NFL training camps open in less than three weeks, and this down time was fully appreciate...More >>
