We ask East Texans what they think about the auto bailout

The CEOs of Ford, Chrysler and GM were on Capitol Hill today, asking for more money to bail out the ailing US auto industry. We wanted to know what you thought about the proposed auto bailout. Here's a few of the answers we got from East Texans.

"The government can't just keep bailing people out. It's going to catch up with them one way or another," said Glenda Booth.

"If it goes under, it's going to be millions of jobs. It will hurt the world financially especially if we have to buy all our cars imported," said Phillip Keen.

"I think that the taxpayers are going to have to do something because if we let it go kaput were are going to have millions of jobs lost and deep in the recession. They ought to do something creative instead of just give them money," said Maureen Lake.

"I think it stinks. I don't think it's justified. I think the automobile industry has brought it upon themselves by being greedy," said Bob Layton.

"Big businesses that support really many, many jobs in the country, it might be helpful to do that. I'm always skeptical about opening the doors for one business," said Ruben Natera.

We would like to know what you think - take our poll at the top of this story, and tell us.
