'One Night Without A Home' event in Tyler to raise awareness of homeless

It's a chance to experience what it's like to be homeless. Tomorrow night, the Smith County Coalition for the Homeless is holding a 13 hour event called 'One Night Without A Home'. The public is invited to spend the night at Bergfeld Park in Tyler and listen to stories from those who have lived on the streets.

"We are trying to increase awareness in the community and have people understand that the average homeless person is not an elderly man that has a substance abuse problem. The average homeless person in America is actually a nine year old boy, and that's shocking to most people," said Christina Fulsom, president of the Smith County Coalition for the Homeless.

One Night Without A Home starts at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow with dinner at the Salvation Army in Tyler. From there, the public will walk to Bergfeld Park.  A 'Faces of Homeless' forum will then take place there.
