A&M Baseball Coach Visits Tyler

Before he was a division one coach, he was a Harmony Eagle.

Tuesday night Texas A&M baseball coach Rob Childress was back home in East Texas.

Childress was the guest speaker at the Tyler/Smith County A&M Club's Coach Night. The event held at the Women's Bulding in Tyler.

The Gilmer native said his road to success started as a player in East Texas.

"Well I know I wouldn't be here doing what I'm doing today if it weren't for the people, not just in baseball, but in all sports at Harmony High School that helped shape my life," Childress said. "I mean Steve Marrs, he's now at Pine Tree High School in Longview, he was not only my coach but he's also one of my best friends and I feel blessed for everything that he's done for me along the way and not just when I played for him but even to this day."
