Younger generation pays tribute to veterans

A younger generation paid tribute to the sacrifices of the generations before at a Tyler Christian school today.

Members of the Patriot Guard and Welcome Home Soldier organizations stopped by the Christian Heritage School as students read poems and essays on why they pay honor to veterans on this day.

Veterans from all branches were recognized and given certificates of appreciation from the entire student body.

"It's just a way for us to honor veterans, just to say thank you for fighting the wars when we weren't even born, just for giving us freedom," said Ivan Arreola, an eleventh grader.

"Shake their hand and say, how are you, that's really all I can do. I can't in any way possible repay you, them, for what they did for me," said Nick Jones, 17.

All in all, more than 50 veterans and their families attended the ceremony.
