Gregg County veterans honored at two ceremonies today

Despite the heavy rain Tuesday, it didn't stop East Texans from honoring those who served our country.

This year's annual Gregg County Veteran's Day program was held at the Longview First Presbyterian Church. Several dignitaries, including Representative Louie Gohmert, were in attendance.

Also in Longview, Foster Middle School students paid tribute with their own Veteran's Day program.

"The veterans have fought for us to be free, and to basically do what we want to do as in the Declaration of Independence and many other documents. But veterans are the most important things for us, to stay free, keep our freedom and do what we want to do," said Bret Lacy, a FMS 8th grader.

"For me just to give back a portion of what...them giving their lives for's just the least I can do," said Taliyah Clark, another FMS 8th grader.

More than two dozen veterans were honored at both ceremonies today.
