Tyler Pounds adding another American Eagle flight to schedule

The Tyler-Pounds Regional airport has announced plans to add a fourth regional jet departure from Tyler, starting January 6, 2009.

The new American Eagle flight is expected to leave DFW Airport at 4:40 pm and land in Tyler at 5:25 pm, then depart from Tyler at 5:50 pm and arrive back at DFW Airport at 6:35 pm.

"This is a great addition to our schedule for our customers, particularly the business people in East Texas," said Davis Dickson, airport manager.  "This new flight allows customers doing business in our area to have a fairly full day of work and make it to the airport to leave after 5:00 pm."

Currently, Tyler Pounds Regional Airport has service to Dallas through American Eagle, and to Houston with Continental Connection. The addition of this flight brings the number of daily departures to ten.

"The load factors for our existing flights have been very strong," said Dickson.  "It makes good business sense for the airlines to add additional flights.  At a time when other airports are having flights cut, Tyler is fortunate that our schedule is growing.  The more Tylerites use the airport, the more flights we will have."
