Update: Heavy rain leads to possibility of flooded streets, barricades

Three to five inches of rain came down on East Texas Tuesday, and we're bearing for more to possibly come overnight.

The clouds today broke up a little and then, the rain came again. It went on for hours, slowing down traffic to a crawl, flooding some roads, and drastically decreasing visibility.

The City of Tyler street department is asking drivers to use caution on streets that commonly flood during heavy rain over the next few days. They say streets crews are watching these locations closely and barricades will be erected as needed.

Those streets include:

  • East Erwin (High Street to Fleishel)
  • High Street Bridge (near East Erwin)
  • Fleishel Street Bridge (near East Erwin)
  • Douglas Street (Houston to Front)
  • Bonner Street Overpass
