Plano woman who cut off baby's arms to be released

A Plano woman who killed her ten-month-old daughter by cutting off the infant's arms is being released from a Texas mental hospital.

Dena Schlosser killed baby Maggie in 2004 and was found not guilty by reason of insanity two years later during her second capital murder trial. Schlosser testified she wanted to give the baby to God. Her first trial ended with a hung jury.

In 2006 she was sent to a mental hospital after being found not guilty by reason of insanity.

A judge this week held Schlosser's annual commitment hearing and decided she's mentally stable enough to leave the hospital. Schlosser in June notified the court, via letter, that she thinks her current mental health needs can be met by outpatient community services.

It's unclear where Schlosser will live. She and her husband divorced last year. Schlosser is barred from seeing her two surviving daughters.
