Robbery suspect arrested in Louisiana

Following a tip from the Tyler-Smith County Crimestoppers, US Marshals arrested John DeWayne Williams, 45, in Bossier City Thursday on robbery charges from Tyler. Tyler Police had been seeking Williams for his alleged involvement in the robberies of three Tyler dollar stores in January - the Dollar General on E. 5th on January 1st, the Just A Dollar on S. Broadway on January 9th, and the Family Dollar on NNW Loop 323 on January 15th.

Williams also had an arrest warrant in Texas for violating his parole after being convicted of a 1981 sexual assault.

Williams is currently in the Bossier Parish Jail, charged with two counts of robbery and one count of aggravated robbery, with bonds totaling $1.75 million. Williams is expected to be extradited back to Tyler to face charges here.
