Three hour manhunt leads to arrest of robbery suspect

A three hour manhunt has led to the arrest of a robbery suspect in Van. Police say 38 year old Tony Arnez Perry tried to steal nearly $1,700 from a Love's Truck Stop on Tuesday.

Officers say Perry ran and hid behind the store in a wooded area. Multiple agencies searched for him, using dogs and even a helicopter. After a few hours, officers closed in on Perry and arrested him. They say Perry admitted he was going to try and rob more East Texas stores, but his plan backfired.

"When he came out of the Love's, he actually dropped the money in the parking lot so he didn't have the money with him and he actually lost the $20 he was trying to use to short-change. That's what he told, he said well here I am in jail and I didn't keep the money and lost my 20 dollars so it's kind of a bad deal for him," said Sgt. Dusty Cook of the Van Police Department.

Van police say Perry is charged with theft of over $1,500.
