Election chiefs predicts 68% turnout

Texas' election chief says she expects 68% of the state's 13.5 million registered voters to cast a ballot in this year's election.

That would mean more than 9 million Texans voting, if her projection is correct. The estimate includes early voting and voting on Tuesday.

Texas Secretary of State Hope Andrade's turnout prediction given Monday is 12%age points higher than voter turnout in the 2004 general election.

There was heavy early voting across Texas during the two weeks of early balloting this fall. Early voting concluded Friday.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
