CHALK HILL (KLTV)

A house divided between support for the presidential candidates

They are an East texas mother and daughter with two very different views when it comes to the presidential candidates. Today, KLTV 7's LaKecia Shockley talked to the family who has what they call a divided house.

It looks like your typical East Texas home. But the closer you look, the signs say it all - this house is divided.

"When it comes down to it, this is my Mom's room. It's always CNN and cigarette smoke...if I want to watch the news I go to Fox news in the living room, that way I have my opinion."

Connie is the mom, and she's for Obama, but her daughter Lori is for McCain.

"I like the Democratic party because I think they have more compassion for people," says Connie. "I think he cares more about people and he wants to make it better for people, everyday people, not just the wealthy people."

"I am definitely for McCain and it is aggravating having our family divided. The two things we don't talk about in our house: religion and politics. She says so many things that I disgree with already," said Lori. "When it comes to McCain you know I agree with a lot of things he stands on I think that abortion is not a great idea. I have a six month old son and I'm a single mom and I wouldn't change it for the world."

Despite their differences, both mother and daughter agree to disagree.

"I won't make her leave or anything. I love her a lot," laughed Connie.

"She's not going to make me leave? Awww...thanks Mom," joked Lori.
