Community Promotes Couple For Home Makeover

An extreme home makeover is hopefully in the works by an East Texas community.

Ronnie and Judy Watson live in a small home near Mulberry Springs where they take care of their two disabled sons,  a home that is in desperate need of renovation.

"For them an open house a bigger house bigger doorways would be such a blessing, the door access is very small, the hallways are small" says the Watsons' minister at Mulberry Springs Baptist church , Danny Warbington.

Small and crowded, the current home is not wheelchair friendly. And the Watsons have to carry their youngest son Michael to his room , and to the bathroom several times every day.

"Its hard. Ronnie is 62 and I'm 60" Judy says.

"I'm 62, and I've tried to get younger and it don't happen" says Ronnie.

Friends say they're unselfish and giving to their community over the years, and the community is trying to give back. They've nominated the Watsons for the television show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

"We have written some letters and petitioned them to consider the Watson family for a new home" Warbington says.

"And I'm just over whelmed because I never would have thought it would, my son Michael is already been practicing , driver move that bus" says Ronnie.

Friends say no one could be more deserving than the Watsons. Regardless,  the gesture has touched the Watsons.

"You have a lot more return investing in people than in the stock market , cause the people never crash on you" says Ronnie.

If you'd like to add your support for the petition to help the Watson family, we've set up a link in the "Know More On 7" section of
