I'd like to thank KLTV for this opportunity to speak on behalf of the TISD bond election which will provide the funding for six new elementary schools.The TISD administration and school board have proven their ability to manage a complicated construction program and spend tax dollars effectively by completing the first phase involving six replacement and one new school on time and under budget.
The public school system is a fundamental pillar of our society, providing the basic skills for a young person to function and prosper in society. As our world becomes more competitive and requiring more advanced understanding and knowledge, our public schools must be improved to meet the challenge.
Certainly quality teachers, strong parental involvement and encouragement, and a positive environment all must create the synergy for outstanding academic achievement. Already the new facilities completed with the first phase of construction have energized students, parents and teachers, giving indication of significant improvement. We expect this progress to continue with the completion of the second phase of the four part facilities plan.
