UT Tyler volleyball raises money for breast cancer research

UT Tyler's colors are blue and orange, but Saturday they wanted their fans to think pink.

The Patriot volleyball team was asking their fans to help them dig for a cure at their home game against Mary Hardin-Baylor. The team wore pink hair ribbons and headbands to show their support, and even the programs were pink today.

Fans made donations, and also pledged money for each dig the team made in their game.

"As young women, we hopefully are going to the doctor," UT Tyler colleyball coach Kristee Phelps said. "Early detection is the main problem, and by doing this, we're speaking to the girls to remind them to listen to their bodies and check themselves."

The Patriots won the match in three games, and also raised more than a thousand dollars for breast cancer research.
