Update: 16 year old Nacogdoches girl shot in pelvic with handgun

The Nacogdoches Police Department is investigating a shooting incident that has left a 16 year old girl seriously injured.

NPD answered a call to a shooting at a home at in the 1100 block of Randall Street just after 6:00 pm Tuesday evening. When they arrived, officers found that 16 year old Ebony Adams had suffered a gunshot wound to the pelvic area, caused by a large caliber handgun.

Adams, a Nacogdoches High School drill team member, is recovering in the hospital. The bullet shattered her pelvis, causing multiple injuries to her intestine and bladder. Police are still investigating, but the teen's father, a Nacogdoches county constable, says he's been told the shooting appears to have been accidental.
