East Texas Volleyball Teams Dig For A Cure

Across the country and right here in East Texas this week, volleyball teams hope to increase breast cancer awareness and research support.

Breast cancer information will be available at several games and players as well as coaches and fans will wear pink.

"There's many women out there that have breast cancer and people don't acknowledge that we need help," TJC student-assistant coach Nyeshia Aldridge said. "I think that we as a woman's sport need to encourage women to get mammograms and be aware because it could happen to you."

The ''Dig Pink'' rally at TJC will be this Thursday, October 23, during the Panola volleyball game at Wagstaff Gymnasium.

Admission is free if you purchase one of the Dig Pink shirts for $5. Money from T-shirt sales will benefit the Side-Out Foundation.

UT Tyler will host ''Dig For A Cure'' this Saturday, October 25, for the game against Mary-Hardin Baylor at 1 p.m.

Proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation. General admission is $5.
