Smith County sees high turnout on first day of early voting

Smith County Elections Administrator Karen Chaney says there's been very heavy turnout on the first day of early voting, especially at the Smith County Annex Building.  Smith County is asking their citizens to be patient and consider some of the following tips that may shorten your wait time.

The County is providing additional parking in the jury overflow parking lot located at Ferguson and North Center Avenue. That's just east of the Annex Building.

More than likely, voters will have to stand in line to early vote, but if they want to reduce the wait time, they should consider the County's five early voting sites.

Smith County registered voters may use any of five early voting locations offered:

  • Noonday Community Center: 16792 CR 196 off Hwy 155 South, Noonday
  • Ambassador Baptist Church: 10495 CR 2167 in Whitehouse
  • Lindale Masonic Lodge: 200 Margaret Street in Lindale
  • Heritage Building: 1900 West Bellwood Road, Tyler
  • Smith County Annex Building: 200 East Ferguson Street, 5th floor, Tyler

Voters should also remember that Smith County offers weekend voting.  Weekends are usually the slowest days of early voting.  There's free parking, extra parking, and shorter lines on the weekend, as a rule.

All locations are handicapped accessible; however, two of Smith County's early voting locations are easier for handicapped access because they have no stairs, ramps, or elevators.  Those locations are the Heritage Building and the Lindale Masonic Lodge.
