More shots fired in jail bond fight

Is it all about the security of a proposed jail?

The war of words and legal documents continues between the Smith County Commissioners court and Ken Good, a member of the committee opposing the proposed jail bond.

The latest round today, Good is trying to put a stop to the commissioners effort to keep certain details of the jail plan private. He says the commissioners keep changing their reasons for wanting to keep the details private.

County Judge Joel Baker disagrees.

"Sheriff J.B. Smith...has never released detailed floor plans of current detention facilities...or future detention facilities because the release the of such detailed plans would pose a serious security risk to officers, visitors, inmates and the citizenry," said Judge Baker.

Late on Thursday, our newsroom did receive very basic drawings of the proposed jail layout, released by Smith County Sheriff JB Smith.
