State Trooper back at work today after being dragged Wednesday

It's a one million dollar bond for the driver who DPS says, dragged a State Trooper down the roadway.

Rusk County Trooper Jeremy Fountain stopped suspected car thieves from getting away by jumping into the drivers side window and grabbing the driver.

Fountain was dragged over 600 feet down a stretch of Highway 79 until he pulled out his sidearm and forced the driver to stop.

Henderson Police assisted at the scene, and say Fountain's effort was almost "superhuman."

"Instead of having a vehicle chase which could put more people in danger, he minimized what could have happened even at the risk of serious bodily injury and death," said Lt. Craig Sweeney. "Trooper Fountain, they didn't realize who they were dealing with. I think they'll remember it from now on."

The second suspect, 29 year old Derrick Lewis, is being held on $10,000 bond.

Fountain, just a little bruised, was back on the job today.
