WR Williams Joins Cowboys For First Practice

Less than 24 hours after he was hired, the Dallas Cowboys new receiver Roy Williams was on the job at Valley Ranch.

The team and the receiver are still trying to finalize a five year contract extension worth $45 million.

Williams was traded from Detroit on Tuesday. The former Texas Longhorn and Odessa native said it's good to be home.

"I'm very excited," Williams said. "To go from 0-5 to 4-2 in a matter of 24 hours it's a pretty good feeling."

The question of the day at Valley Ranch, how is the teams number one receiver Terrell Owens is handling the signing of Williams?

The answer is, just fine.

"Roy is going to be a viable receiver for us," Owens said. "Once I think he gets the offense down he's going to come in and he's going to make some plays and we're going to try to make the best of the situation."

"I think it's going to put a lot of pressure on defenses," Williams said. "It's pick your poison. Which one are you going to do. It's just a great feeling to be a part of something like this."

"I think I'm a possession wide receiver I can compliment TO pretty good. He's more of the deep route guy, big fast and physical. I'm just big and physical. I'm just looking to have fun."

Both of the Cowboys' Roy Williams practiced Wednesday and are expected to play Sunday. Safety Roy Williams is expected to play against the St. Louis Rams after missing a month with a fractured forearm.
