Playground Equipment Soon At Fun Forest Park

Fun Forest Park has received $50,000 for new playground equipment.

The donation was presented today by the Spangenberg Family Foundation to Benefit Children's Education and Healthcare.

"We are very thankful for this donation toward playground equipment for Fun Forest Park," said Mayor Barbara Bass.  "This is particularly meaningful because this park has no playground at this time."

The donation will purchase playground equipment that is American with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible and targeted toward children age 2 to 12 years.

"Our Foundation is passionate about helping children," said Audrey Spangenberg of the Spangenberg Family Foundation.  "We want to provide a place where children can use their imagination and enjoy the outdoors."

The foundation was founded by the Spangenberg family to focus on education and healthcare for children.

"This is a great gift for our City and the neighborhood," said Council Member Donald Sanders.  "Parks play such an important role in strengthening our community. They are a place children can enjoy themselves and a place that parents get to know one another which is the foundation for a stronger neighborhood."

"We are very fortunate that the Spangenberg Foundation blessed us with this donation," said Council Member Ralph Caraway.  "This enhancement will add another dimension to the neighborhood. Currently the Dixie Little League plays their games at this park but there has been no place for the siblings to play during the games. I know the community is elated to have this new equipment."
