No Indictment for Woman who took Katrina Kids

A Houston grand jury has decided not to indict awoman accused of kidnapping the five children of a Hurricane Katrina survivor.

Rhonda Tavey was no-billed by the grand jury Tuesday on all five kidnapping charges. Tavey, a former Red Cross volunteer, had befriended Erica Alphonse and her family after they came to Houston following the 2005 storm. In July, however, Tavey refused to return the three girls and two boys, claiming Alphonse was abusive.

Tavey was arrested after being on the run for nearly a month. The state's child welfare agency has cleared Alphonse of the abuse allegations.
