Two Brothers Killed In Morning Accident

A devastating day at an East Texas school. Students and teachers are left to mourn two brothers, killed in a fiery accident on their way to school.

Early this morning, authorities were called to a wreck at the intersection of FM 314 and County Road 3418 in Henderson County.

The victims, brothers, ages 15 and 16, were well known football players and honor students at Brownsboro High School.

DPS says 16 year old Aaron Cummings was driving North on 314 with his 15 year old brother Nicholas when one of their truck tires went off the road. That's when DPS says Aaron lost control and hit an embankment, causing the truck to catch fire.

By the time authorities arrived, the truck was fully engulfed and both boys were already dead.

Officials at Brownsboro ISD tell KLTV 7 both were great boys, involved in campus organizations including football and the National Honors Society.

"It's a big loss when something like this happens. It affects everybody," said Elton Caldwell, Superintendent, Brownsboro ISD.

"They had a whole life ahead of them and they didn't get to make it that far," said Krystin Groothuis,Senior Brownsboro Student.

"It made everybody realize that the people that you have close to you they can be gone in an instant," said Ashley Costlow, Senior Brownsboro Student.

The school district had counselors and pastors available to talk to students. Now as for the crash, the investigation is ongoing.

Authorities tell us they've worked a lot of accidents on this stretch of road. Troopers say 314 is one of the main roads into Brownsboro from the country, so they see a lot of speeding.

However, right now, they do not know if speeding contriubed to this wreck.
