People deal with adversity in different ways. Some withdraw, give up, or lose interest in everyday things. For others, adversity inspires them to move forward, push harder, and accomplish more. One such inspiration is Renee Crenshaw of Liberty City. As a busy wife, mother, and business owner, Renee faces the daily challenges of living Parkinson's Disease.
Those around her say that she never misses a beat, finding not only the strength to do the everyday things, but the willpower to do more. She's selflessly takes care of the people around her, sharing her compassion and kind words. She spends countless hours making sure the family business runs smoothly and still finds time to help those less fortunate than herself. She heads up part of our local "Light the Night" walk benefitting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and has helped raise more than $10,000 for that organization.
The young man who wrote to us about Renee said that she deserves a big "pat on the back". Well, we think we can do one better than that, by recognizing Renee Crenshaw as this month's Everyday Hero. Thanks, Renee, for your triumphant spirit. It is people like you that make this a Better East Texas.
