Gilmer Police looking for suspects in pigeon drop scheme

Police in Gilmer are asking for your help to catch a scam artist, preying on elderly victims. This ETMC security video shows the female suspect police are looking for.

Police suspect her in at least two pigeon drops, when the victim is convinced to give up some money in order to secure the rights to a larger sum of money.

In two cases, this woman approaches an elderly person, claims to have a large amount of found cash, and offers to split it if the victim will front the money for legal costs. Police think she's not done yet.

"She does not seem threatening in any way, she does have an accomplice, that we haven't identified who that is, but we have seen her on video getting out of a vehicle just prior to approaching our victims so there are going to be 2 people playing a part in this scam," said Detective Roxanne Warren with the Gilmer Police.

The suspect is described as a white female in her late 50s, medium build, possibly wearing a wig.
