Art Walk Longview featuring rarely seen images of Marilyn Monroe

A quarterly art show in Longview will be featuring a unique exhibit of a classic American icon in rare photographs and images from around the country.

KLTV 7's Bob Hallmark has more on Art Walk Longview and the continuing popularity of Marilyn Monroe.

Her image still fascinates fans. For many she personified Hollywood, and at TCC art gallery, you can see rare images of Marilyn Monroe.

"She was a sex symbol yet also a feminist. She owned what she was," said Tammy Cromer-Campbell.

From intimate moments of solitude to the dress she actually wore to President Kennedy's birthday, photographer Mary Ann Lynch's images bring her back to life.

"She has photographed Marilyn Monroe in modern day society since 1992. It's more of an apprasial of how we reflect on Marilyn today," said Cromer-Campbell.

The display accents Art Walk Longview, a self guided tour of downtown businesses exhibiting and selling art.

The exhibit also focuses on how Monroe's image remains hugely popular all across America.

"Still having her up in a store on a billboard or sign, she's definitely part of our society today."

Over 40 years after her death, Monroe is as big a star as ever. Art Walk Longview happens four times a year. The next Art Walk is Thursday, October 16th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The Marilyn Monroe exhibit is in the TCC Gallery at 207 Center Street.
