Local Halloween and Fall Festival Activities

  • Broadway Square Mall is holding two events on Halloween for safe and secure trick or treating. The events will go from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm October 31st at the Broadway Square Mall.

  • The Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center will host the annual Halloween at the Hatchery the evening of Thursday, October 30. Local businesses and organizations will hand out free candy, and the center will be decorated throughout with a Halloween theme. The event runs from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and is expected to attract about 3,000 people. Parking will be available in the main TFFC parking lot and in the overflow parking area on Peninsula Point Road. Parents wishing to visit the fright-free area should use the overflow parking and enter through Gate C. For more information, call TFFC at (903) 676-2277.

  • Celebrating the event's fifth anniversary, the 2008 Boo Ball is set for  7-11:30 p.m., Saturday, October 25, at Rick's On the Square (104 W. Erwin in downtown Tyler), announced event chairs; Sherry and J.D. Osborn, Sherilyn and Patrick Willis; and honorary chairs, Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass and Billy Bass. A fundraiser for The Arc of Smith County, the Boo Ball is a Halloween party for adults, featuring fantastic food, spooky spirits, dancing and a live band. Back by popular demand this year, an Elvis impersonator will be making an appearance as well. The Boo Ball will also feature a silent auction. Pumpkins, hand-decorated by special needs citizens served by The Arc, will be sold for $50 each at the Boo Ball. The lucky purchaser of one special pumpkin will receive a diamond bezel Michele Watch (underwritten by Cole & Co.) valued at $1,700.  Boo Ball tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased by calling  903-597-0995. The theme this year is "Hawaii 5-0" to tie in with the event's fifth anniversary.
