Man Almost Struck By Lightning

Many fear being struck by lightning during severe storms. And for at least one East Texas man, that fear seemed like a reality Tuesday morning.

An Airborne Express delivery man stumbled into Access Community Mental Health Center in Jacksonville, saying a bolt of lightning may have hit the ground next to him.

Dr. John Gill, who worked at the center, says the man's skin was hot, and he almost fell unconscious.

"He was able to run in," said Dr. Gill. "But, right as he walked in the door here, he collapsed and said he had no feeling in his lower left leg."

Shortly before emergency personnel arrived, the man told Dr. Gill that he was feeling better. He was transported to ETMC-Jacksonville where he made a full recovery.

Doctors ran tests, but did not find any injuries. Shortly after, the patient was released.
