Lightning Bolt Leaves City in Dark

The entire city of Whitehouse now has power.

But, around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, the city lost power after lightning hit a substation there, starting a fire. Both transformers were destroyed.

Police had to direct traffic because of the outage. But, not everyone thought the black out was a bad thing. Eric Sexton is a freshman at Whitehouse High School.  He was in sixth period when the lightning hit.

"The lights like flickered on and off for like about five minutes. And everybody's like jumping up and down for joy because we thought that we were going to get out early."

The whole city was without electricity for about four hours.
Electricity was restored to all residents just before 10 p.m.
