The race for U.S. Senate in Texas heats up, as one candidate in the campaign makes a stop in East Texas. Democratic challenger and state representative Rick Noriega made a campaign stop in Gilmer Saturday for a Democratic Party bean dinner. Noriega is running against republican incumbent John Cornyn. Part of his message tonight was his opposition to the massive bailout bill passed by congress.
"The bill didn't address anything to fix the problem, we're throwing money at a problem to clean up water in the house, but we're not patching the hole in the roof, so we have no idea whether, or not this particular money infusion is going to fix the problem," said Noriega. "We need to have additional regulation. We need to have accountability." Noriega also made a stop in Mount Pleasant Saturday.
