John Tyler Builds Win Streak, Confidence

The John Tyler lions had just one victory in 2007.

In just five games in 2008, the Lions have tripled that win total, winning their last three games and proving they can be down but never out.

Last Friday night, John Tyler battled back to defeat Lewisville in overtime 27-20.  The week before John Tyler defeated W.F. Rider.

They blew out Arlington Lamar 37-10 and in their second game of the year, they fell by just a point to state ranked Lufkin.

Second year head coach Dereck Rush said his team is living their motto: have fun and finish.

"Right now, our kids have gained confidence over probably the last four weeks since we played Lufkin," Coach Rush said. "So, we're just trying to keep them focused and get ready for district play."

John Tyler is off this week. The Lions will host Mesquite Horn on October 10th in their district opener..
