3 arrested for stealing copper during hurricane Ike

3 people have been arrested after police say they stole copper from Longview homes during Hurricane Ike.

Longview Police say 3 suspects kicked in the doors to 3 different homes in south longview during the storm, and stole more than 2-thousand dollars worth of coil and copper.

23 year old Sherry Mims of Longview and two juveniles were charged with the burglaries that still have investigators shaking their heads.

"We were dealing with the hurricane and when we're dealing with the hurricane, people were kicking in doors and stealing copper plumbing....Not everyone was home Saturday morning, not one of the residents they struck at were there. The witnesses had seen them at every location they had gone to we had neighbors watching out for other neighbors and reported what they had seen they got license plate numbers they got good descriptions and all of those witnesses were able to identify the suspects when we stopped them later."

Mims is being held in the Gregg County Jail on $7,500 bond.

The two juveniles are being held in juvenile detention.
