Power outages in Tyler affect John Tyler, traffic lights

Power is almost fully restored after a power transformer went out around just before two this afternoon. Over 6,000 Oncor customers were intially without power.

Numerous traffic lights across the northwest side of Tyler went out, causing backups, forcing police to come out and direct traffic.

At this time we're told most major intersection are now working, but police are asking drivers to use caution as the rest are brought back up and working.

There was also a change of plans for students at John Tyler High School.

Without power there, officials decided to let students out of class around three this afternoon.

Oncor said that most of their one thousand customers without power around the Rose Garden area, including the East Texas State Fair, should be back online within the next few minutes.
