Crash ends overnight Smith County chase

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - One person is in custody after leading authorities on a chase through Smith County.

Deputies tell KLTV 7 it started around 11:30 p.m. Monday night when a deputy tried to stop a man in an older model brown truck on Thompson Lane, just northwest of the city of Tyler. The chase wound from Thompson Lane to County Road 46 and ending at the intersection of the two roads when the truck rammed a deputy's squad car at a nearby church. Deputies went through the suspect's truck and pulled out a bottle and can of alcohol.

One person was seen being loaded into an ambulance and transported by paramedics.

Officials are not releasing the suspect's identity or the charges he is facing at this time.
