Buses arrive to take Tyler evacuees home

Forced from their homes for nearly two weeks, Tyler's Hurricane Ike evacuees are finally getting to return to their homes in southeast Texas.

Our cameras were there this morning as 12 buses arrived at the old Troup Highway Walmart Shelter. More than 3,000 evacuees have been staying in local shelters after fleeing the destructive hurricane that hit Texas.

Today, many of them will load up and head back to the Beaumont-Port Arthur area.

Beaumont lifted its mandatory evacuation Saturday morning, though authorities there warn that basic services are not running at full capacity yet.
